About this event

The 5th annual CAREED conference will be held virtually this year on 9th December (13.00-16.30 hrs, GMT). The theme chosen for this year’s conference reflects the uncertain times we live in during the current COVID-19 pandemic. The conference will have a series of short keynote lectures, time for Q and A, and a roundtable discussion on a range of projects that CAREED and its partners are involved with in Africa. The conference is free and we encourage you to register early as numbers will be limited.

The keynote speakers are: Professor Thomas Jayne of Michigan State University who will speak on the Changing Face of Agriculture in Africa (full title TBC); Professor Victor Murinde, of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London whose lecture will be on the Fintech Revolution and the impact of Mobile Money in Africa (full title TBC); Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. His lecture will be on: Youth employment, employability and the future of work in Africa; and Professor Toyin Falola, University of Texas whose lecture title is: Charting the pathway for African Economic Development in the 21st Century.

To register for the conference please sign up on Eventbrite. The conference will be conducted using ZOOM and login details will be provided nearer the date of the conference.
